Sound Video feedback and LR
1) Type up your feedback from your teacher.
- Great choice of song and the opening parallel section is highly entertaining and in time to the music.
- I wonder if using both sound and images from one source doesn't quite meet the brief (montage + your own unique choice of music) But it's such a good scene.
- For the contrapuntal sound element, it certainly got a reaction from the audence.
- One question though- was the head smashing on the desk in time with the music? If it was, it would be almost parallel in that sense!
2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.
- It made me wanna dance and the scene abruptly changed the atmosphere
- The atmosphere of the first scene fit perfectly with the music
3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.
WWW- I think I picked my music perfectly for not only the first clip( which was parallel to the sound) but also my second clip( which was contrapuntal to the sound) as it caused a visceral reaction due to the opposite atmospheres of my texts.
EBI- Next time I think I should pick a clip that isn't from the same source, as I may have cheated the brief a little- even though it fits perfectly.
4) Learner response: compare your own video against your evaluation of the top three videos in the class. Whose did you think was best and why? How could you have improved your own video?
I think Kimiyahs' was the best because her first scene caused a vicarious reaction towards it and the second scene made me want to laugh uncomfortably.
5) Finally, what have you learned about the importance of sound to film and TV through this week's work?
I've learnt that sound contributes to how an audience interacts with a media text and it is important in communicating atmosphere.
