Ignite Presentation feedback
Mr Pall’s feedback:
- A thorough and insightful summer project research blog task. You have clearly spent a considerable amount of time considering your song choices and establishing a fictional band to represent
- Your coursework concept has considered the brief outline and requirements to promote a new pop band
- Your delivery throughout was very controlled, you demonstrated this by having a clear pitch and tone. You were well prepared and knew what slides were coming up next which made your presentation feel seamless but at times there were some long pauses hence why not being able to give you top marks for this section
- Well done for bringing in many named theorists such as Goodwin to reinforce your production choices for TikTok music video 2 etc
- Your justifications for Sony as your band’s industry and decisions for digital convergence were valid and again reinforced the band’s authenticity to their audiences
- Overall, a very solid presentation but perhaps consider your choice of images, amount of text, font choice and size and overall slide layout so that it is easier for your audiences to follow and understand
- Representations / social and cultural contexts although mentioned in your presentation felt quite brief and less developed compared to the rest of your presentation
Q&A:
- Naturally, as we are a smaller class you handled these questions well and you were open to feedback and clarification
- You responded well to Kim’s question about your choice of promoting your documentary on Prime Video
- Consider the purpose of your release date perhaps coinciding with other events e.g. tours, concerts which could further promote your documentary
- When asked about your band’s name by Sheldon, perhaps be either, being more explicit in your statement of intent or through one of your music videos about justification of your band’s choice of name

2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write your own detailed WWW and EBI for your coursework concept and presentation as a whole.
WWW - I think my coursework concept is good and well thought out
EBI - I need to think more about how theories of representation and social/cultural context will come into play. With my app "Tick", I also need to consider how I am going to be able to included that within my videos
3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?
My coursework will align almost perfectly with my presentation, with the exception of my app "tick", as I am not sure how i will be including it in my coursework just yet. I don't believe any changes to my statement of intent are needed just yet. I think my concept offers a lot of clarity to who my band is and is very appropriate to my audience brief. My videos are exceptionally achievable with the resources I have available to me.
